Those who plant in tears will harvest SHOUTS OF JOY. They weep as they plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the HARVEST.

Bats and Frogs

Well I know you are now thinking that I have truly lost it and have started doing witchcraft or something of that nature. That is not the case at all. These are too little creatures that we have had to share living quarters with this summer.
I know some of you are probably thinking that it is better than mice, or snakes but for me to know that bats are sharing my attic with us just gives me the creeps.
I guess you are also probably wondering how we know that we have these little flying visitors. Well I will tell you.
One night about two A.M. my ten year old came down to our room and calmly told me that we had a bird in our house. I said I think you were just sleep walking. When she took me upstairs and said that it was flying in circles around the ceiling fan I knew right away that the bird she thought she saw was no bird at all, but that we had BATS. I took the children next door to the guest house where my parents were staying and they slept there for the rest of the night for a fun little sleepover. I Figured they didn't need to know that their newest house guest was a bat.
On top of all this craziness at 2:00 A.M. my cellphone is ringing and it is my husband telling me that his car is broke down on the side of the road about 30 miles away. Thank God my parents were here or I would have been loading 6 little girls into the van for a late night drive to rescue Daddy.
Well back to the BATS after that side note. It is now morning and my children are awake and I have convinced them and myself that my oldest was just seeing things. We all head next door to start our day. I send all the girls upstairs to get dressed and I start breakfast. About 30 seconds later I hear them screaming and crying "Mommy it"s real !!!! The bat is in the little girl's room."
Let me tell you all something, I am a big WIMP. I go half way up the stairs and ask them what is going on. They are all hiding in the bathroom telling me that it was flying over their heads while they were playing. During all of this chaos my one year old has been left in the room with the bat and I am yelling at the older ones to get the baby because I am too chicken to go save my poor little girl. One of the big girls finally gets the baby and throws her in the bathroom with everyone else. I run down the stairs and get my Dad to save us and leave the children upstairs all alone with the BAT. Know that is what you call a WIMP.
My dad comes next door gets the kids out of the bathroom and looks for the bat which cannot be found anywhere.(Of course I look like the crazy lady with six kids)
We close all the doors and proceed on with the day as normal as we could. We all know that bats sleep during the day and are awake at night so my dad says we will catch it when it gets dark. Night comes and the bat gets caught and my dad and husband think it will be great to let the kids see it so they won't be scared. I just think that is gross(remember I have girls). Not only do my girls think this bat was cute they decide to pet the little creature and can't get over how soft it was. No Thank you.
Well a couple of weeks later I am walking down the basement stairs and I see a baby frog hopping down the stairs. I am finished with outside creatures thinking they can be inside. I put a plastic box over the frog and let my husband deal with that little guy when he got home. I remember in Genesis when God says that we will have dominion over the creatures of the earth. I am having a real problem with that. I can't even catch a baby frog.

A Vessel From God

I am back. I have not blogged in a few months and really don't have a reason why. Life was happening and I was letting it get the best of me. I was talking to a dear friend of mine who lives in Phoenix the other day and I must have really been doing a lot of complaining. She said very sweetly to me why don't you start blogging again so that you can see all the little things that bring you JOY.
I started this blog and really wanted to focus on "remembering to count it all JOY."
Well at some point during this summer I guess I quit counting it all joy and started looking at circumstances and feelings. I know better than that. My God tells us that we will have "Love, Joy, Peace,..." I am child of the living God and I am going to start living by the spirit and not by my flesh anymore.
I know that I will still have circumstances that will still happen in my life but now I am going to try to remember to find Joy and Peace in everything, and not let the Devil steal that time away from me again.
I just want to say thank you to my dear friend in Phoenix, and thank you to God for using her as a vessel that day.
One more thing, here are some of the little things that have brought me joy lately....
A God who is truly merciful.
A husband who has to be a saint to put up with me.
Six little girls who love me all the time no matter what I say or do.
A truly blessed life.
