Yesterday was a day of running errands for us and it really turned out to be a great day. I did figure out that I don't think I will be shopping at Target anymore. You wonder why, well I will tell you.
We started our day out at Goodwill and found some great deals. Praise God. Everything went fine there, the children behaved, not too many people, and everyone was really nice.
We then moved on to Target. Now that was a totally different story. It was about 10:30 in the morning so the only people really out shopping were moms with little ones or elderly people. I have no problem with either one. The only problem was the fact that all of these moms looked at us like we were not good enough to be shopping there. I don't think Target is that upscale of a store but these women looked at us like we had just crossed into their territory. I got the dirtiest looks and no one tried to discreetly count how many children I had. Then came lots of eye rolling and disgraced looks like we were overpopulating the world because you could tell they all were trying to live "green". Now I know I may sound bitter and that is because I probably am. I will not frequent this store anytime soon because I guess in other peoples eyes we are not good enough.
The positive that came out of this was I was able to talk to my children about what a blessing they all are and how special God made each one of them. I told them that every gift from God is a good gift and that is how we see children as a blessing not a burden.
We finally headed to Wal-Mart and what a wonderful experience. No one looks at you weird because they are just as strange as we are. I think I will continue to shop at my favorite Wal-Mart and fit in just fine with all the other strange people in this world.
Please don't get me wrong if you shop at Target I am sure you are not snotty I just happened to run into that group of people yesterday. The same with Wal-Mart if you shop there I am not saying you are strange either.

WalMart Rocks...and I am strange and I love being that way...lol. I have never been a fan of Target, it has always felt "uppity" to me. I do like to buy my purses there now and then when WalMart doesn't have what I am looking for. Embrace your strangeness....
Boy, better be glad Nana was not there when shopping at Target, we don't go there rarely, normally can't find anything. People are ignorant sometimes, but your post was good and fairly stated. Strange is good, which we are not!!!! Nana C
Just so you feel better...I get looks when I go to Target, too. AND.....I don't have 6 girls in tow. I am not sure when Target became Dillards, but you are right about the people. I happen to love Target, though and will not let people drive me away. I love Walmart, too. OK...I love shopping! Better deals at Walmart, but nothing beats Goodwill!
Love ya!
I can't believe you'd call me strange and snooty!! I'm not sure I can still read your blog! (You know I'm just kidding!)
We have a fairly new SuperTarget across the street from Goodwill and a newer Wal-mart down the street. Target DOES have more of an upscale feel and prices to match! I usually only go there for certain thing I can't find at Aldi's or Wal-Mart, and they usually DO have good clearance clothes. But it is a hoity-toity feeling. Why? I can't put my finger on it, but it's obvious that's the feeling they are trying to portray.
I don't think that you were sounding bitter Mrs. Jensen. It is just the world.

I used to work at Target and I can attest to the snooty attitude from the employees. Don't know whether the "looks" were from employees or "guests" as they call them. But the employees can definitely give off an attitude.
I still shop at Target for a lot of baby items which are cheaper there than the grocery store. But I hate Wal-Mart because of the crowds. I get a little closterphobic! Too many people rushing around. Still I go there to buy our meat, as they have the best prices.
I love Walmart. I have never really been a fan of Target. I never seem to find things I need at Target. But take me to a walmart and I can make some damage. I also love Goodwill.
I had that happen one time in a Beals. No fun!
I think they are probably unhappy and we and our kiddos are blessed! : )
